Bayphase was mandated by Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. (Staatsolie) to conduct an Independent Review of the GranMorgu Field Development Plan (FDP); this development is the first deep-water development in Suriname and is located in the prolific Suriname-Guyana Basin.
Bayphase used its extensive experience of deep-water development in Guyana to inform its review and to provide its opinion on the acceptability of the plans put forward by the Operator: TotalEnergies.
The review considered all stages of development of the FDP from the feasibility study stage, through to conceptual design and selection of the Preferred Option, through to consideration of the detailed FPD submitted to the Government of Suriname for development approval.
Our review considered the development functionally by its main elements:
1. Subsurface
2. Drilling
3. SURF
4. FPSO
We took a risked based approach to the review, designed to quickly identify areas that posed little or no risk to the development. This ensured that the review’s main effort was focused on areas that posed real risk to the success of the development.
FDP Approval was granted by Staatsolie on 30th September 2024.
